Many years ago in the early 1990’s I was a student and practitioner of CranioSacral Therapy. I studied with John Upledger and even had the privilege of assisting him in an Advanced CST class. It was at a CST conference that I first encountered Dr. Aminah Raheem. She and Fritz Smith, her husband, were guestspeakers at the conference. As I listened to her talk I was enchanted with this incredible woman and her vision of treating the Whole Person: Body, Mind, Spirit, Soul! I knew right there that she was my guide to deepening the work

I was already doing and learning to follow the “way” of the person.

I immediately started to learn her Process Acupressure work and from there on it was a flowering and growth of the work I brought and still bring to the people I am privileged to help.

Classes were unforgettable gatherings as our community grew. We would come together and spend four days at classes for learning and experiencing new work, or even a week for advanced classes, with each other in Tuscon, Massachusetts. Florida, New Hampshire,Vermont, Wisconsin,Philadelphia, California, England, Canada, Switzerland and more…

And of course, there was Borrego Springs in the Anza Borrego desert in California. That is where Fritz and Aminah lived. Where the ancient spirits lived and we could connect with them in the pure sweet smelling air. Where we could lie on the desert floor at night and watch the huge star-filled sky. Where we could climb the hills in the early morning light and find seashells on the desert floor. Where we would experience the unfolding of our Inner Child healing work; explore the work with Personality Parts in PA1B, Go deeply into the meridians and power of the points in PA3, find the profound knowledge hidden in each level of our Chakras in PA4 and go, each one, on our individual Vision Quest in the desert discovering more about ourselves and our ancestors.

We shared housing, we shared meals, we shared mutual respect and heartfelt love. Soul Lightening was born and now has evolved to be Insight Acupressure.

I grew into a teacher of Process work from the Basic PA1 classes forward I taught to Inner Child Healing, PA1B Body and Personality Parts, and co-taught Ancestral Healing with Aminah, and then on my own. All of this is imprinted in my heart and guided by my soul. The work continues with Insight Acupressure and the greatly talented faculty that loves, honors and respects the profound, life altering, soul guided legacy that Aminah bequeathed to us all.
